Acanthus mollis is a very stubborn plant, once established its almost impossible to eradicate, so planting it in the correct position first time is important.
Hollards gold behaves exactly as its parent. The depth of gold in the foliage is entirely dependent on sunlight. Too much and it becomes a sickly yellow, too little and it is very light green. Mine gets around 3 hrs in the morning which makes it a soft yellow/green foliage.
Acanthus mollis is a summer dormant perennial making it very drought resistant. A well established plant will flower at 1.5m and the foliage spread is about the same.
