An unusual Begonia species from Brazil. Its large palmate leaves are unlike any other in the genus and give the superficial appearance of a palm. Luxurians could grown to 2.5 metres but is best pruned much lower to maintain a compact shape, pruning is best done in late spring just prior to the growing season. Its treatment is the same as most Begonia. A dry winter and moisture/fertiliser over the summer months. This is an easy Begonia to grow, it barely notices winter in Olinda so will probably not go dormant in Melbourne.
