Eryngium yuccifolium

There are many Eryngium I have not been able to grow here in the long term. I think the appearance of drought tolerance is deceptive, most of them do in fact need moisture. Yuccifolium is an exception.
This is a prairie plant from the east of North America, the flowers are architectural and persist right over the summer months, they are a magnet for pollinators. I would not be without this plant it fits in so well with grasses, late flowering kniphofia and Salvia.
The foliage makes a mound at approximately 60cm and its flowers 1.5m
