Gentiana acaulis

Probably the most famous European alpine and justly so. This is an extremely slow growing plant with the most spectacular blue trumpet flowers spring and Autumn. The foliage is completely prostrate and its flowers around 5cm high.

Gentians like a sunny position in alkaline soils, good drainage and plenty of summer water.

This is not the easiest plant but worth the effort.
