Ledebouria cooperi

A bulbous perennial from the South east of Africa where it grows in damp grassland.This is a winter dormant plant.The purple 5cm flowers appear before foliage in mid spring and continue as its foliage surfaces. Its a robust foliage plant with 10cm deep green leaves striped purple that last well into autumn. I grow it here in my rock garden with no irrigation, in a dry season it goes into early dormancy.
