Paesia scaberula

The ring fern or matata is endemic to New Zealand where it has a wide distribution from Stewart Island right up into the far north. Plants which grow grow in such disparate climates tend to be hardy.
This little fern which has creeping hares foot type rhizomes will tolerate way more sun than most fern types.Its height is around 40cm and it will go down in winter if subjected to frost
