Pennisetum orientale

A small grass that’s rarely available due to its dislike of disturbance. If dug and divided expect considerable loss and a slow recovery. Despite this down fall its a wonderful Pennisetum growing to a height of around 30cm and flowering from spring until late Autumn when it goes down over winter.
I have never had a seedling from this grass so its in no way invasive unlike others in the genus and once established is very hardy.
Division is done in mid winter only well before growth commences and don’t try to chop into small pieces or you will loose the bulk of it.
