Plectranthus is a great genus of shrubs for the shade garden and zuluensis must rank as one of the best. The flowers are a very soft violet and held way above its foliage. It flowers here for most of the year but the main flush is late spring into summer and autumn. This is a gently suckering shrub to 1.2m lower with pruning. A lot of gardeners relegate plectranthus to the toughest driest position but if they’re given a semi shaded position with 30cm of mulch they really perform.
