Sometimes mistaken for an Epimedium and sometimes a maiden hair fern Vancouveria can resemble both. This is a creeping perennial for the shade garden that is endemic to the pacific North west of the Americas. Its foliage grows to 20cm and the small white flowers on wiry stems are 40cm. I have seen this plant spread rampantly in hills gardens but its well behaved at lower altitudes and makes a great ground cover in heavily shaded gardens.
