The very name Oxalis will send shudders down the spines of many gardeners. Its always a mistake to judge a whole genus on the performance of some of its species. Oxalis is a big genus with around 800 species, in a genus this size its inevitable that there will be weeds but also some very fine garden plants. Oxalis hirta rosea is an autumn flowering bulb which is capable of making big clumps but will not spread to other parts of the garden. It has hot pink flowers at 15cm which work really well in the autumn garden and it summer dormant.
