Echinops ritro

The globe thistle is a perennial ideally suited to Australian gardens, its tolerant of heat and while it won’t perform in very dry conditions it will survive and pounce back once conditions have improved.It has been growing on my nature strip in the same spot for many years, this position used to be full sun but as the trees have grown its become semi shade and the Echinops is quite happy. In early to mid January when the first flush of flowers is over it can be cut to the ground and will flower again in Autumn.
