This is a tiny semi evergreen perennial from the family Ranunculaceae. The soft purple/blue flowers happen before foliage growth in late winter early spring. It self seeds very lightly here and like do many in this genus the seed must be sown fresh and green.
Hepatica need good leafy soil in a well drained position. They do very well if planted amongst rocks in a dry stone wall.
